A Quick Guide to Washing Abayas of All Types

To clean your abaya safely without damaging the fabric or embellishments.

Essential Steps:

1.  Check the label: Always read the care label attached to the abaya first.

2.  Sort the abaya:

o Satin and chiffon: Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent. Soak without rubbing.

o Crepe and viscose: In the washing machine, use the "delicate" cycle with cold water and a gentle spin cycle. Turn it inside out and place it in a mesh laundry bag.

o Embroidered or embellished: Dry cleaning is best. If washing at home, hand wash quickly and avoid soaking the embroidery.

3.  Use suitable products: A mild, bleach-free detergent.

4.  Dry it wisely: Do not wring the abaya. Hang it on a wooden hanger in a dark, well-ventilated place. Avoid using a clothes dryer altogether.
